To be fair, this winter has us all feeling like we’re permanently living in our parkas. But as the saying goes…this too shall pass. So while we’re all anxiously awaiting that warmer weather to arrive, this is a good time to take stock in some spring staples…namely, the short jacket.
This season is bringing back some old favorites, along with some fresh takes on the classics. Whether you’re looking to level up with a few new pieces or in need of a full wardrobe reboot, here are the big trends happening for 2022…
Legends, Carson Bomber Jacket in Camo $150
Bombers are one of those outerwear pieces that every guy should have in their wardrobe. There are plenty of versions you can choose from, but this fella from Legends caught our editorial eye for all the right reasons. First off, the silhouette looks cool and polished, with slim branding around the zippers that keeps it looking comfortable but lean. Like most everything from Legends brand, the quality of the fabrics pretty much guarantee this is a keeper for years to come. Outside it’s durable, water repellant tech fabric while inside the comfort mesh liner keeps you cool. And with camo being the king of prints for 2022 street style, this hunter green sierra version is spot on classic and fresh.
John Varvatos, Carlos Peacoat $698
When you’re ready to get serious about your investment pieces, this peacoat by John Varvatos should be high up on your list. Toss a hoodie underneath for that perfect off-duty look or keep it date night classy with slim jeans and some Chelseas. The wool-blend will keep you warm and dry on those days the weather decides to flip-flop between rain and sleet.
adidas, Outer Station Jacket $70
IFYKYK…coach jackets are trending big time for 2022. This street skateboarder staple piece is getting a makeover by adidas, with exaggerated pockets and a more relaxed fit. Perfect for those days you really crave a fashionable take on the windbreaker.
The Kooples, Leather Jacket w/Patch Pockets $567
Contemporary, ready-to-wear French brand The Kooples knows a thing or two about pieces that drip timeless cool. Case in point, this leather jacket with patch pockets that looks somewhere between the classic English leather field jacket and the now-quintessential American shacket. We honestly cannot wait to see how well this jacket ages…it’s deeply handsome now, but give it a few years and it’ll be straight fire.
Patagonia, Pile-Lined Trucker Jacket $179
The classic trucker jacket goes green with this version from Patagonia. Made with certified B-corp organic materials that are a combo of recycled and responsibly sourced, the corduroy exterior reads rugged while the soft-pile interior will keep you plenty warm on those chilly spring afternoons.
Legends, Hawthorne Tech Zip Front Hoodie $105
We’ll always love a good old cotton hoodie for tossing on our way out the door, but when the weather decides to be a little ‘extra’ this is the fella you’re going to want to reach for time and again. Thick performance fleece with a scuba neck hood for extra warmth will have you asking “what breeze?” while the extremely comfortable 4-way stretch fabric and abstract gray camo print keep you moving and looking good. Did we mention the extra secure pocket-within-a-pocket that perfectly protects your phone? I think we just did…
True Religion, Medium Wash Denim Jacket $67.48
This iconic brand of the 2000s is seeing a huge resurge as fashion falls for all-things-aughts. The loose fit and medium wash puts it to the top of your must-have list for this year.
